Talk to One Person
Convert broadcast tone into intimate one-to-one address.
The teaching
There is no crowd on the other side of the microphone. There is one person in a car.
Say 'you', never 'everybody out there'. The moment you address a crowd, you sound like an announcement.
Lower the volume slightly, raise the specificity, and the listener leans in.
Example
'Good evening listeners everywhere' versus 'It's twenty past nine, and you're still driving.'
- Second person singular, always.
- Specific detail creates intimacy.
- Smile changes timbre; the mic hears it.
